With a Heart and Head Full of You

Writer: Letters HomeLetters Home

At Sea

Hi Big Stinky;

The best I’ve heard recently (From the local assisting wit) Dear Wife, I am writing this letter slow, because I know you can’t read very fast. (Well, this lad hadn’t heard it before)--(From the recent cinema with the Andrews Sisters, Cactus and Moonlight or something.

Good enough to be rated three or four bells minus.) One character is telling another of the same about a close fisted friend--”He’s so tight, that if owned the Pacific Ocean he wouldn’t so much as give a clam a bath.” You know, now as I read that over, it must have been the actor’s impressions which conveyed said humor. Since of shows we speak, there’s one with J. Durante and that, “Glad to see you,” comedian An army theme, but rather witty I believe. (A fellow critic’s opinion, I missed it.)

Guess I’m destined to remain an outcast of the

U.S. Navy for some time to come. Signal towers, Army training, marine commandos, the U. and now the British Navy. Funny how you can get away so far in such a short time. At present time, I have a uniform for every operation, regulations for lots of stations, and a greater yearning than ever to be with you. Every day I dream and think and dream about coming home Sweetie. Gee I’ll bet twill be nice. No worries, home all night with you, whisky in the ice box (always seems that that expensive little item slip in somewhere) no bother, just being with you.

As Ive read the last mail from you ‘til tis practically memorized, sure hope to get some new at a near future date. Situation still same tho, no mail until I send a different address. (Save em and I’ll read for months.) The reason I don’t care to try and receive stuff, when

this bloody thing is quite a world cruiser.

Much different than the common opinion, coolies do need sleep. Not as much as the ordinary person, but still an hour or so----So with a heart and head full of you, I must leave---

Until Tomorrow
